Class Discussion/ L. Annette Binder stories

In class today when the idea of Evolution was brought up I thought it was interesting because I didn't think about it in that way. In a way Freda and Teddy are the same, but also very different. Just like all of us are, we come from the same place but we are very different people.

A quote I picked out from this story was, "What was it like to be more like that, to never be still and never be tired?" This is Freda talking about Teddy when she watched him help her around the house and I think that this quote is significant because in a way she is kind of jealous that Teddy can move around so easily and she wishes she could do that too.

Teddy and Freda have a very comforting connection and Teddy saw past her appearance. Freda wanted Teddy to remember her when she was in better shape so I think that is why she wouldn't open the door towards the end of the story.

I really liked the way L. Annette Binder wrote about the blind guy in Sea of Tranquility and how he could see all these illusions of the moon and the mountains. I definitely think this was to show how insignificant the little things are in the end.

In all 3 of these stories by L. Annette Binder, the focus is on how these characters lose hope throughout the stories and they let their illness take control over their bodies.
